Le "small set" fût l'un des premiers décor a être victime de la rudesse du désert. En 2003, il était déjà bien endommagé et à demi enseveli sous une dune.

L'autre image présente un détail intéressant dans les restes de la boutique de Watto. En effet, même si le décor intérieur complet a été construit aux studios Leavesden en Angleterre (photo avec Padme et Anakin), le comptoir encore présent dans le décor extérieur atteste qu'il fût au moins partiellement construit également en Tunisie pour certaines prises de vues.
Below, a photo of part of the "small set" during production and as it could still be observed in 2003. The other picture shows an interesting detail in the remnants of Watto's shop. Indeed, even if the entire interior was built in Leavesden Studios in England (picture with Padme and Anakin), the counter visible in the external set testifies he was also at least partially constructed in Tunisia for some shots. |

Le tournage de Mos Espa eu lieu du 28 juillet au 7 Août 1997. Ci-dessous, une photo prise dans le "Yardang Field" (un yardang étant une crête rocheuse créée par l'érosion et le vent dans les milieux désertiques).

Habituellement détruits après utilisation, c'est grâce à la demande de l'office du tourisme tunisien qu'aujourd'hui ces décors de bois et de plâtre peuvent encore être contemplés. N'étant hélas pas faits pour résister au dur climat du désert tunisien, l'érosion à bien entamée la plupart des constructions et en a détruit plusieurs mais le site offre encore la chance unique de profiter de ce magnifique décor, malheureusement en sursis…
Usually destroyed after use, this is due to the demand of the tunisian tourism board that these sets of wood and plaster can still be seen today. Being unfortunately not made to withstand the harsh climate of the Tunisian desert, erosion had damaged most of the buildings and several other are destroyed but the site still offers the unique opportunity to enjoy this beautiful scenery, unfortunately not for ever... |
